NEW NORTH WALES VINEYARD JOINS CYWAIN AT ROYAL WELSH SHOW

July 12, 2016

New vineyard, Gwinllan Conwy, will be joining the Cywain stand on the first day of the Royal Welsh Show (July 18-21).

The family-run North Wales vineyard produced its first wine earlier this year and were delighted to be awarded a silver award for their Solaris dry white wine at last month’s English and Welsh Wine of the Year competition.

Owners Colin and Charlotte Bennett harvested their first grapes at their vineyard near Llandudno Junction last October, and the special hybrid grape varieties have been chosen specifically to work well with the soil and climatic conditions in North Wales.

In addition to its award-winning dry white wine Gwinllan Conwy vineyard has produced a medium dry white, a red and rose wines, and a sparkling variety will be launched in the autumn.

Gwinllan Conwy Vineyard replaces The Gower Sausage Company on the Cywain stand at the Royal Welsh Show’s Food Hall.

Seven companies will feature on the Cywain-managed stand (numbers 66 & 67) over the four days of the Show, creating a diverse range of food and drink, which includes beer, honey, wine, cheese, gin, and botanical syrups!

Many of the producers will be making their show debut, while others will be launching new products and ideas. All the producers taking part in the showcase have been supported in their ventures by Cywain – a project created to bring added value to primary produce within the agriculture sector.
