CYWAIN HELPS PEMBROKESHIRE DAIRY COMPANY GO ‘TOTALLY WELSH’

Cywain_MainRGBA Pembrokeshire dairy processors’ desire to add value to welsh milk has become a reality with the launch of a new brand – Totally Welsh.

Haverfordwest based Mark Hunter Ltd has expanded its bottling operation to include its own dairy brand – and has picked up an award for job creation in the process.

The company has been supported in its brand development by Welsh Government backed project Cywain, which was established to help bring added value to primary produce within the agriculture sector.

Originally formed as a fruit and vegetable packing business, Mark Hunter began bottling milk for local suppliers five years ago.

SWEET AND SAVOURY FLAVOURS COMBINE AT CYWAIN’S SPRING FESTIVAL STAND

Cywain_MainRGBThis weekend’s (May 16th & 17th) Royal Welsh Spring Festival will provide the perfect showcase for a range of food producers looking to reach a wider audience.

A number small and up and coming food producers will be featured in the Food Hall during the event under the auspices of Cywain – a project created to bring added value to primary produce within the agriculture sector.

Spread over the two days there will be something for everyone from meat lovers to those with more of a sweet tooth.

Located in the Vale of Glamorgan, Llantrithyd Deer Park will have a variety of organic venison cuts and products at the stand on Saturday.

WELSH FISHERMEN LOOK TO WIDEN THEIR NETS ON CORNISH STUDY TOUR

cywain-fisheriesWelsh fishermen will be travelling to Cornwall next week to look at ways to add value to their catch and bring more Welsh caught fish and seafood to the marketplace.

The study tour has been organised by Cywain Fisheries – a project launched in 2011 to help the fishing sector add value to primary produce.

Cornwall is famed for its fishing industry and the 11 strong group drawn from across Wales, will visit a number of locations to see how the Cornish industry operates in today’s marketplace.

CYWAIN HELPS PUT WELSH VENISON ON THE MENU

Cywain_MainRGBOne is a smallholding, the other a sprawling south wales country estate but together they have forged an award-winning partnership to add value to Welsh venison.

The combination of Cwm Farm’s meat processing flair and skill and Margam Country Park’s 400 strong herd of deer has led to an exciting new project creating a range of venison cuts and cured meats.

The instigator of the partnership was Cywain, a project created to bring added value to primary produce within the agricultural sector, which has matched the Cwm Farm and Margam Park’s skills and expertise enabling them to grow their businesses and open up new marketing opportunities.

NEW PRODUCERS TAKE TO THE STAND IN WINTER FAIR FOOD HALL

Cywain_MainRGBThe Food Hall at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair is a magnet for visitors, and provides an important festive shop-window for Welsh food and drink producers.

This year a number of small and up and coming food producers will be featured in the Food Hall under the auspices of Cywain – a project created to bring added value to primary produce within the agriculture sector.

Many of the producers will be making their show debut, while others will be launching new products and ideas.

Seven companies will feature on the Cywain-managed stand over the two days (December 1 & 2) of the event which is this year celebrating its 25th anniversary.
